Narrative
CLIFTON, NJ – A fiery crash involving a box truck and a New York transit bus killed one person on Monday morning in south Passaic County.
The accident occurred around 9 a.m. on Route 3 near East Valley Road, which is just north of Montclair State University in the city of Clifton.
It’s not yet clear what caused the truck and the bus to collide. Police say that the impact caused the box truck to catch fire after it crashed into several yards in the neighborhood of the crash.
The fire from the crash damaged the roadway and the exterior of several area homes.
The 55-year-old driver of the box truck died at the scene. Authorities have not yet released his identity to the public.
None of the bus occupants sustained notable injuries.
