Narrative
TOMS RIVER, NJ – A 20-year-old driver and two passengers went to the hospital Friday after a solo crash that brought down power lines in Toms River.
The incident happened early in the morning on Ocean County 571, or Bay Avenue, just west of Oak Avenue, which is south of the Ocean County Mall.
Police say that the driver struck a utility pole after leaving the roadway. The collision damaged the pole and caused power lines to fall into the road.
Medics transported the driver, identified as Tyjir Wiggs, and his two passengers with injuries of unknown severity.
Officials closed the roadway in the area of the crash while crews worked to clear the downed power lines and restore the pole.
Police say that Wiggs may face charges.
