Narrative
FREEHOLD, NJ – One person died Tuesday after a collision involving seven vehicles along the highway in Freehold.
The incident happened around 10 a.m. on Route 9 at Business Route 33, which is just northwest of Freehold Raceway.
The investigation indicates that a northbound vehicle failed to slow down at a red light on Route 9 and rear-ended other vehicles at the intersection, causing a chain-reaction crash. At least one vehicle overturned.
Police have not yet released the identity of the victim, nor have they clarified if anyone else sustained injuries in the crash. They say the driver that caused the crash may have suffered a medical episode.
