Narrative
A young boy was hit at the Deforest and Woodland Ave. intersection by a car driven by an 89 year-old woman on Feb. 3rd. The ten-year old’s leg was injured, and he was sent to Overlook Medical Center once he was found by authorities at 52 Woodland Ave. The at-fault driver left the scene but later came back. She was unable to find the victim because he had gone to Lincoln-Hubbard Elementary School to get help. The authorities found the boy at this school around 8:15a.m. The driver went to the Summit Police Department and stated she hit the boy while turning left at the intersection. She also claimed that the main cause was the sun’s glare which prevented her from seeing him. The woman received a summons. The investigation was led by the Summit Police Department Traffic Safety Bureau.
